Herbs D-M

For centuries, herbs have formed the basis of medicinal remedies, traditionally dispensed in the parish by the vicar’s wife. In the 17th century, the herbalist Nicholas Culpeper published ‘The English Physician’, which is still recognised today as an authority on herbal medicine.  Herbs still form the basis of some drugs e.g.: aspirin from white willow. They have the advantage in being used in different forms: raw, cooked, used as a poultice topically and, in tincture, tablet and capsule form.
