Manganese

Manganese is a trace mineral which works along enzymes to enable the thyroid, sexual organs and adrenals to work properly. The highest levels of manganese are stored in the pituitary gland.  Carbohydrates, proteins and cholesterol are all activated by the presence of manganese. It is an antioxidant, harnessing the free radicals which damage cells. The body needs manganese to form bones and cartilage. Blood-clotting is also an important function of the mineral. Kale, raspberries, pineapple and garlic are among the foods that contain good sources of manganese.
