Pantothenic Acid also known as B5 is a component of coenzyme A, and plays a vital role in helping the body to utilise fats and carbohydrates in energy production. B5 is involved in the manufacture of adrenal hormones and red blood cells. B5 is sometimes known as the anti-stress nutrient as it has a key role in cellular metabolism and adrenal function. During extended periods of stress the body’s need for the vitamin seems to increase and additional pantothenic acid is often used to support adrenal function. Biotin is found in offal, poultry, fish rice, whole grains, yogurts and legumes.
